Our Opportunity

Join our Materials Science and Electrochemistry Practice in Natick, MA, as a Battery Engineer/Scientist and help tackle some of the most challenging, real-world problems in batteries and energy storage. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, contribute your expertise, and develop practical solutions with meaningful impact.

We are looking for a curious, hands-on engineer or scientist with a strong background in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Materials, or a related discipline. This is an opportunity to apply your experience designing experimental setups, instrumenting hardware, conducting laboratory tests, and turning complex data into clear insights for our clients. Analytical thinkers who enjoy developing tools in MATLAB, Python, or similar languages will be especially well positioned to thrive in this role.

If you bring experience in battery research and development, battery testing, electrochemistry, or failure analysis, you will have the chance to make an immediate contribution. In this role, you will take ownership of meaningful technical work—from designing and executing experiments to interpreting results—and communicate findings that help clients and project teams make well-informed and data-driven decisions.

You will be responsible for

  • Designing, building, instrumenting, and conducting laboratory experiments
  • Developing test plans and troubleshooting experimental setups
  • Performing engineering calculations and analyzing experimental data
  • Developing MATLAB, Python, or similar scripts for data processing, visualization, and test automation
  • Conducting battery cell, module, and pack testing and supporting failure-analysis investigations
  • Interpreting experimental results and identifying relevant physical or electrochemical mechanisms
  • Preparing technical reports, proposals, and presentations
  • Communicating findings to clients and multidisciplinary project teams

You will have the following skills and qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related engineering/scientific field
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with experimental design, fabrication, instrumentation, and data acquisition in support of laboratory testing
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or a comparable technical programming language
  • Experience with battery testing, electrochemistry, energy storage systems, or failure analysis is desirable
  • Experience with commercial battery cyclers, sensors, or automated test equipment is a plus
  • Strong practical engineering and troubleshooting ability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively work independently and within multidisciplinary teams
