Our Opportunity

We are currently seeking an Engineering Technician to join our Materials & Corrosion Engineering Practice in Menlo Park, CA. The ideal candidate is an adaptable, hands-on problem solver who enjoys working with advanced laboratory instrumentation and supporting a variety of materials characterization and analysis projects.

You will be responsible for

  • Operate and maintain advanced analytical instrumentation, including two scanning electron microscopes (ThermoFisher Apreo2 and Helios PFIB) for diverse materials and applications.
  • Operate additional laboratory equipment such as a CT scanneroptical microscopes, and mechanical testing systems.
  • Prepare and polish cross sections for printed circuit board (PCB) analysis and metallography.
  • Calibrate laboratory equipment, maintain accurate records, and ensure adequate supplies and materials are stocked.
  • Support laboratory inspections, quality control, and general lab operations.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers and scientists to execute test programs and interpret results.

You will have the following skills and qualifications

  • Education: B.S. or Associate degree in an engineering, materials science, or related technical discipline.
  • Experience: 2–5 years in a laboratory or technical environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to observe, troubleshoot, and solve technical problems using available resources.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document procedures and results clearly and accurately.
  • Experience in metallographyScanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), or R&D laboratory work is a plus but not required.
  • Must be versatile, team-oriented, and willing to work overtime or travel as project needs arise.

Compensation

The pay rate for this position is dependent on experience and capabilities which will be assessed during the interview process.
