Our Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Nurse for our Biomechanics Practice affiliated with one of our offices in Atlanta, Detroit, Irvine (CA), Phoenix, or Tampa. In this role, you will work as part of interdisciplinary, inter-office teams and support engineering and scientific consultants to review and summarize medical records. Our Senior Nurses also provide other types of support, for example, literature research on a medical or nursing topic or bespoke summaries such as treatment timelines or medication summaries. Many projects are fast-moving and require a motivated critical thinker capable of quickly, carefully, and accurately synthesizing information from a variety of records.

You will be responsible for

  • Reviewing medical record documents provided by clients with an eye for detail to identify key facts and information based on discussion with the project team
  • Preparing work product that may include a chronological, highlighted compilation of factual information extracted from medical records
  • Producing work product that may include a typed medical index based on your review
  • Answering questions and explaining terminology or aspects of diagnoses, medical care, or record keeping to the project team
  • Upon request, supporting projects with medical literature research and synthesis of information
  • Providing similar support for other practices when needed, such as Biomedical Engineering, Human Factors, or Health Sciences
  • Managing and prioritizing multiple requests and communicating with the project team for timely completion of tasks
  • Working cooperatively with other Senior Nurses to manage workload
  • Professionally and respectfully reviewing sensitive projects involving confidential material and/or documentation of severe injuries and serious medical conditions
  • Maintaining relevant certifications and skills through professional development and continuing education

You will have the following skills and qualifications

  • R.N., B.S.N. or higher nursing degree
  • At least 5 years of clinical nursing experience
  • Ability to efficiently and critically review medical records, which may be voluminous and/or duplicative, to identify relevant facts and information
  • Outstanding written communication skills and a detail-oriented eye
  • Ability to work in office or remotely with up-to-date, secure computer systems and document software, and to use these to communicate with colleagues in multiple offices (training and equipment will be provided on firm-specific systems)
  • Current nursing certification is desirable, required for certain opportunities
  • Experience with traumatic injuries is desirable but not required
  • AIS (Abbreviated Injury Scale) training and/or certification is desirable but not required

Compensation

Our consultants are rewarded for their technical and business contributions and have an opportunity to plan for future success and career growth. Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent. At the Associate and Senior Associate level, total compensation includes base salary, bi-weekly bonuses for high-intensity efforts, annual bonus and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.

 

The base salary range for this position is dependent on experience and capabilities which will be assessed during the interview process.
